Souper Bowl of Caring, Thru Feb. 5, 2012

BPC Youth Support Souper Bowl of Caring

Please donate today!

More than 20 years ago, the Souper Bowl of Caring began with a simple prayer from a single Youth Group:

“Lord, as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us be mindful of those without even a bowl of soup to eat.”

Since that day, more than $81 million has been raised for local charities across the country through Souper Bowl of Caring.

Please join with the BPC Youth Group in helping to collect cans of soup or donations of money to support our local foodbank.

BPC Youth in Atlanta

Summer Trip 2011

What a great trip!  We were able to lead 11 Youth to Atlanta through the DOOR program, and we partnered with 23 different agencies around the greater Atlanta area for a wide range of ministry opportunities.  Much of our work was relational, with Youth working with summer camp children, individuals with mental and psychological disabilities, women and children in special protective housing, older adults in assisted living homes, and also in a food bank preparing and delivering over 6,500 meals every day!  Each evening the staff led us in reflections from Luke about Jesus’ words concerning the disparity between the rich and the poor, and each day we encountered homeless men and women sleeping on the steps of the church in which we were staying.  Each day we were challenged, and I believe that each day we grew in our understanding of God’s call in our lives to love and care for the least of these.  We also had a lot of fun together!

Thank you to BPC for helping us fund this trip through support of our numerous fundraisers, the continuous use of Kroger Cares cards, and the generous donations made possible through the Emily Childers Fund.  Also, a special thank you to Tom Berry, Sally Slayden-Berry and Susan Moore for joining me as leaders on this trip! Finally, thank you to all the Youth for a wonderful mission experience.
