Outreach
Linda Wirth, Committee Chair (615-383-5044)

The Outreach Committee has the responsibility of engaging the congregation in mission efforts within the community and throughout the world. This committee oversees all financial gifts to mission causes (both budgeted items and special offerings) as well as the "hands-on" mission endeavors of the congregation. Administration and Personnel Committee
Bob Officer, Chair (615-662-2300)

The Administration and Personnel Committee is responsible for all members of the church staff and the general operation of the church office. The committee recommends to the Session candidates to fill vacancies among lay employees. This committee is responsible for conducting staff reviews and monitoring compliance with the policies of the church. In addition the A & P Committee is responsible for the maintenance of all our church office equipment.

Buildings and Grounds

The Buildings and Grounds Committee is responsible for the maintenance of the church's property, buildings and equipment, oversight of the custodial and lawn care services, and the use of the church buildings by outside groups.

Christian Education Committee
Debbie Keller, Committee Chair (615-415-8920)

The CE Committee is responsible for managing a comprehensive program of Christian Education and nurture for all ages in a safe and supportive environment for participants and teachers.  This includes Sunday School, Wednesday night RENEW, small groups, youth programs, weekly Bible studies, Vacation Bible School, and Presbyterian Women activities.  The Christian Education Committee recruits and trains volunteers for its programs, and secures whatever curricula, resources and/or supplies are needed to provide this ministry.  The CE Committee also seeks opportunities for education of parents and other church leaders and is responsible for ongoing communications regarding special events and all programs to promote and encourage participation throughout the congregation and the community at large.  CE Committee also oversees the operation of the Early Education Program in concert with the Early Education Board. The responsibilities of this committee are planned and implemented by three teams:

  • The Children's Ministry Team - Deborah Tyson, chair (356-4922)

  • Oversees the church nurseries, Sunday School for preschoolers, Rotation Sunday School for elementary children through grade 4, Planet 56 for grades 5 & 6, Children's Worship for young children, age 3 through Kindergarten, and Wednesday night RENEW nursery and programs for infants through 6th grade.  In addition, the Children's Ministry Team oversees the weekday Early Education Programs in cooperation with the Early Ed Board.

  • The Youth Ministry Team – Audrey Williams, chair (356-4809)

  • Oversees the ministries for youth in grades  7 - 12 by providing support, planning and resources for the youth Sunday School classes and Presbyterian Youth Connection (PYC)  activities including Sunday and Wednesday evening programs. In addition, this team provides for special mission trips and fosters participation in youth conferences designed to assist young adults along their faith journey.

  • The Adult Ministry Team  - Harry Clewer, chair (673-0977)

  • Oversees the adult Sunday School classes, small group Bible Studies (such as the Wednesday Morning Bible Study and Presbyterian Women Circles), College Ministry and the adult programs for Wednesday night RENEW.  

    Congregational Life
    Bette Schnitzer, Committee Chair, (615-256-8484)

    The Congregational Life Committee is responsible for providing leadership for those activities within the life of the church which foster fellowship, participation and good communication within the church family: Weekly fellowship dinners; 2nd Sunday Breakfasts; Congregational Dinners and picnics; and special group outings for the congregation.

    Membership/Communications
    Warren Bullock, Committee Chair (370-1693)

    The basic goal of the committee is to insure that members of BPC are cared for and find community in service and fellowship. The Membership/Communication Committee works in tandem with Worship, Outreach, Congregational Life and the Diaconate. Membership helps the Diaconate with phone calls, meals, etc. as needed and makes sure that new members are assigned a deacon and receive a new member packet. Additionally, this committee is responsible for the oversight of the church's monthly newsletter, the church's website, and other forms of communications throughout the church.

    Stewardship and Finance
    Ben Harrison, Committee Chair (615-244-1440)

    The Stewardship and Finance Committee is responsible for all of the financial aspects of the church. This includes managing the annual stewardship campaign, oversight of the receipt and disbursement of all church funds, the work of the Church Treasurer, and a regular review and reporting of the church's budgetary needs and financial status.

    Worship Committee
    Mike Childers, Committee Chair (615-646-1333)

    The Worship Committee is responsible for all the details of corporate worship and for providing special worship opportunities for the congregation. This includes oversight of the music program, administration of the sacraments, the order of worship, decorating the Sanctuary for special seasons, and coordinating the schedule for worship volunteers.
